There are so many things to love in this display.

Texture in the baskets and trays…

Spring garden pots, pastel pink flowers, and green plants…

And a sense of discovery through layers of decor with varying heights.

Spring has sprung on this fireplace!

Spring Style for My Fireplace Mantel

Now, on to styling my own fireplace mantel for spring with some of these inspiring elements.

My houndstooth tile fireplace is one of my great design loves in our home. Bold yet classic.

But the bold tile can present issues when styling the mantel.

Whatever I style on the mantel has to hold its own against the houndstooth pattern below…a cute dog helps!

A Fresh Start with Spring Colors for Your Mantel

When decorating for a new season, I always start with a color palette. Spring colors tend to be light and airy. So I love to use pastels, soft blues, blush pinks, fresh greens, and bright colors that feel like a breath of fresh air.

Whether you love a neutral color scheme with just a pop of color or you prefer a bold and vibrant mantel display, choosing a consistent palette will help create a cohesive and eye-catching mantel.

Green plants and a blue sea glass bead garland bring even more color to the springtime mantel.

More Ways to Add Spring Color to a Mantel

  • Mix Greenery and Florals – Combine greenery with bright blooms for a balanced and colorful mantel display.
  • Hang a Spring Wreath – A faux boxwood wreath adds a touch of greenery and a fresh, natural look.
  • Incorporate Floral Arrangements – Use pink flowers, white tulips, or a mix of spring blooms for a seasonal touch.
  • Use a Tall Vase – Fill it with faux branches or fresh flowers to create varying heights and a big impact.

Layering for Dimension and Interest

Creating a visually interesting mantel display is all about playing with different heights and layering pieces for balance.

Mixing tall statement pieces with smaller accents helps everything feel cohesive. A large mirror, artwork, or a tall vase is always a great place to start!

For this mantel, the wall art naturally set the tone and gave me a strong vertical element to work with. I initially tried layering some woven baskets in front, but they felt a little too small and got lost in the mix.

Instead, I went with a narrow woven basket on one side, filling it with an open-air greenhouse and a trailing Pothos plant for a fresh, organic touch.

To mimic the draped bead garland from my inspiration photo, I nestled a blue sea glass bead garland inside the basket and let it spill naturally onto the mantel.

Next, I love bringing in natural elements for that fresh spring look—whether it’s lush greenery, tree branches, or even realistic faux stems. These little touches breathe life into the space and make it feel effortlessly styled for the new season.

While the fireplace mantel is the focal point of this display, I couldn’t help but bring some of these natural elements to the front of the fireplace.

And when I say “natural”, I really mean some very fun faux spring greenery. The metal watering can helps the illusion that these are real plants!

Spring Styled Fireplace Mantel

I absolutely love how this newly styled spring mantel came together!

By breaking down the elements of the Pinterest Challenge image, I was able to incorporate those same details in a way that feels fresh and natural in my space.

The bold fireplace tile makes a statement on its own, so it was important to find a balance between layering decor and letting the tile shine. The mix of woven textures, fresh greenery, and soft spring colors brings just the right amount of warmth and charm.

It feels like the perfect blend of inspiration and personal style—a mantel that truly welcomes the season!

  • Fresh flowers in a tall vase for an elegant touch.
  • Candle holders with pastel-colored candles for warmth and ambiance.
  • Bunny figurines or ceramic bunnies to give a nod to the spring season.

Spring Fireplace Decor for the Holidays

If you love decorating for the holidays, your mantel is the perfect place to add some Easter mantel decor! Easter is a great time of year to bring in Easter eggs, pastel colors, and bunny-themed decor to create a fun and festive mantel.

Last year, I decided to go full out with bunnies!

These seven flocked bunnies in various springtime colors line the width of the mantel. It adds such a fun, unexpected pop of personality!

Other great ideas for an Easter mantel display include:

  • Ceramic bunnies tucked between candles or flowers.
  • A stack of books in pastel hues topped with Easter eggs.
  • A spring wreath made of colorful eggs or faux greenery.
  • A touch of greenery using fresh or faux plants to tie it all together.

The spring season is all about renewal, and your fireplace mantel is the perfect way to reflect that in your home décor.

  1. So fun, so bright, so YOU!!! I love this mantel (it might be my favorite of your many mantel displays. Bold but simplistic. And how did you pull off the fun high energy — yet it feels calm? I guess because it just feels right. You are a master!!!

  2. Missy, what a creative take on mantel decor! I absolutely love the beautiful basket overflowing with vibrant and colorful stems.

  3. Wow Missy, I love your bold take on the challenge! That artwork and your houndstooth tile are incredible, and I love how the choice of colors pops! Perfect for Spring xx

  4. I think my favorite part of your gorgeous mantel is the hearth and chair! I love that you didn’t put your items on the hearth but on a side table. Such a great idea. And you even had a watering can. Love your colorful style. Glad you could join us! pinned

  5. Missy, I love your spin on the challenge this month. You’ve given me lots of ideas on mixing modern and traditional elements. The basket with the pip berries and ribbon looks fabulous with the artwork and your other accessories! Taking notes here!

  6. Missy, your fireplace vignette makes me think of a large painting (3′ x 6′) my dad brought back from Vietnam when he came home from the war/conflict. “Sam” was a Vietnamese prisoner lying on his side (in the painting) with his head propped up on one hand and wearing one ankle chain anchored to a metal ball. It really was a statement about North and South Vietnam.

This painting had bold swipes of color splashed on the canvas creating the figure in an impressionist style. Sam had dark black hair in a bowl cut. I loved that painting and wanted it for our house but was too late in letting my mother know that. I probably would have always stayed with rich colors like I’d grown up with if I had that painting in our home today. I had much bolder colors in our last home. Every room had different colors and our kids chose the paint for their bedrooms. Was a lot of fun!

So how does this figure with your spring vignette, you ask? It’s because of the happy bold splashes of color in the painting above your mantel. I really love how it offsets the b/w herringbone of the tiles. Love the super colorful rabbit, too.

I must say, too, that your pup is adorable!!! How did you ever find a harlequin Golden-doodle? A friend in California always had harlequin great danes. 🙂

Anyway, sorry so longwinded. I usually write much shorter comments but your vignette really spoke to me. It’s fun! Enjoy your mantel’s spring decor and happy almost spring to you and your family.

    Hugs,
    Barb 🙂

  7. Missy, I love those large (at lest they look large) barely greGreen beads on the mantel. What a great accent for your mantel. Placing the pretty blue chair in front of the fireplace is a great idea. It really brings your eye into the scene and picks up the colors in the painting on the mantel. Great job, my friend.

  9. It’s times like this that make me miss not having a mantel. Living in a townhouse has kind of made it impossible. I found you on Heath and Soul, and had to stop in and say hi! Have a wonderful week
