Philosophy Routine to QVC Dream: Skin Care Habits That Work

Confession time: I’m absolutely obsessed with Philosophy skincare. Their products have become a key part of my daily skin habits and routine, and let me tell you, my skin is thanking me for it! But who knew this glowing obsession would lead to something even more incredible? Buckle up, because I’m about to spill the tea on how my Philosophy love affair landed me a spot on QVC!

Just a heads up, these are all my own thoughts and experiences with Philosophy skincare. While I might face a window for good light, fancy filters were used in the photos, and everything you see is the real deal! Also, to be completely transparent, I haven’t been paid by Philosophy Skincare or QVC to share my opinions. Just wanted to be clear!

It started with a voice message.

I thought it was spam.

And then I did a double take.

A producer from QVC had called and left a message.

Would I be interested in sharing my skin care story and experience with the Philosophy skincare line via Skype on QVC?

YES! I WOULD!

So I get to chat with host Mary Beth Roe about how I am a long-time fan of the Philosophy skincare line and how a lifetime of good skin care habits has served me well as I enjoy the Age of Possibilities! (50+)!

Can I ask a favor? Please give me a collective boost and join me on July 1, 2024 at 1 pm EST as I Skype onto QVC. With millions of people hearing my story (and looking at my skin!), my nerves could use all of your positive energy!

Why are Good Skin Care Habits Important?

Good skin care habits are more than just achieving a temporary glow. They’re an investment in your overall health!

Consistent care of your skin protects it from damage that can lead to premature aging, like fine lines and wrinkles.

By following a routine that cleanses, protects, and nourishes, you’re promoting long-term skin health.

The result? Radiant skin that reflects your inner well-being and keeps you feeling confident for years to come.

What are Healthy Skin Care Habits?

Let’s talk about healthy skin habits!

It might seem like all those fancy products and routines are the key to glowing skin, but really, it boils down to treating your skin well.

Think of it like taking care of your favorite houseplant – you wouldn’t just leave it in the corner without water and expect it to thrive, right?

You water it, and feed it, and clean the leaves so the plant can breathe. The same is true of your skin!

Washing your face regularly gets rid of dirt and oil, while moisturizer keeps it plump and hydrated.

There are other products that can add to the glowing appearance of your skin. Serums, retinols, exfoliators…I personally use them all and love what they do for my skin.

But the most important thing is cleansing, moisturizing, and protecting!

Yes, don’t forget sunscreen protection– it’s our best friend against wrinkles and sun damage!

By incorporating these simple steps into your daily life, you’ll be on your way to healthy, happy skin that radiates confidence from the inside out.

My Skin Care Philosophy

I thank my mother for some very wise advice she gave me as a pre-teen.

Wash your face twice a day and your skin will thank you when you’re 60.

Well, guess how old I am next year?

You guessed it! I turn 60 next March and I could not be more grateful to my mother for her healthy habits push!

Do I have perfect skin? No way. Like everyone, I have skin issues.

I suffered through years of adult acne and then pivoted to a dry skin type.

But through it all, I have, for the most part, stayed true to a consistent skincare routine that has given me pretty great skin as I gaze at the next decade.

Healthy skin habits will give you the best chance at beautiful skin. A fresh and healthy canvas for whatever your day brings!

My Philosophy Story

The first product I knew from the Philosophy skincare line is the serum “When Hope is Not Enough.”

I was in my 40’s and was stopped in my tracks by the product name. In that moment, I realized that youthful skin is a gift and that, unless I take action beyond my usual cleansing, hope was all I could ask for. And that was not enough!

So I tried various Philosophy products. And I think my I have healthier skin now that when I was 20!

I don’t always use just Philosophy products. But I find that I keep going back to the ones that work for me and help me toward a radiant complexion.

My two “desert island” products? Without a doubt, Purity Made Simple cleanser and When Hope is Not Enough serum!

Now at 59, I have an ingrained skin care routine that includes skincare products from Philosophy that I love.

And, with the exception of some under eye concealer, and a finishing powder….I don’t wear foundation make-up. Philosophy skincare products have helped me become confident enough to be make-up optional!

My Skin Care Routine

Everyone’s skin is different and everyone deals with their own “issues.”

I’m sharing my skin care routine only as a means of hoping that it will be of help to someone who may have some of the same issues. My issues are:

  • Dry skin: My skin used to be combination skin but age has changed that.
  • Fine lines and wrinkles around my eyes and lips. (Truly, I don’t mind the laugh lines!)
  • Sun damage: thankfully I am not seeing too many areas of damage but there are a few. If only I could go back and lecture my 20 year old self!
  • Loss of firmness: Again, I’m blaming age. It happens to us all!

I mentioned earlier about my skin “dessert island” products. Well, these are how I start every day!

Both in the morning and at night, I cleanse my face with Philosophy’s Purity Made Simple. It is a gentle cleanser that cleans my face but also melts away andy make-up (so great for taking off mascara!) and leaves my skin feeling so fresh and clean.

Those aren’t just flippant adjectives for me. I really mean FRESH and CLEAN! One of the best feelings in the world!

Sometimes, in addition to Purity Made Simple, I also start my day with the Philosophy Microdelivery Exfoliating Facial Wash.

Gone are the days of painful scrubs for me. This wash is so gentle!

I rub a little of it onto my face in the shower, rinse, and then shave my legs with it! It smooths the skin and gets rid of any flakiness and dead skin cells. (Ick!)

After I’ve cleansed, then I apply a few drops of my favorite serum from Philosophy “When Hope is Not Enough.”  It moisturizes my skin and tightens it ever so slightly.  The serum always feels so cool on my skin (love this in the summer!) and it smells so good!

When Hope is Not Enough

Once I’ve cleansed and applied the serum, I will moisturize. The products may vary depending on the time of year.

If I run across a good deal, I will use Elemis pro collagen marine cream to moisturize. (Another great QVC bundle! My jar has lasted me two years!) In the summer, I like to Neutragena Hydro-Boost.

And year-round, I love some of these products:

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask: I get mine through Amazon and it is my lip survival in the dry months of winter.

Tatcha Serum Stick: This help smooth out fine lines and wrinkles around my eyes. I like to keep one in my purse for handy touch-ups.

Peter Thomas Roth Retinol Infusion: Not gonna lie…this is expensive. But, I think the difference it makes in my skin is significant and a small bottle lasts me forever. Plus, it works at night while I sleep and does not irritate my skin.

Why Buy Beauty Products Through QVC?

Shopping for beauty products on QVC has become a game-changer for me!

First of all, I love seeing the products demonstrated live. It helps me understand exactly how to use them and see the real results they can deliver.

Do they cost more than drug store skincare? Yes, but I have found brands (like Philosophy) that have been game changers in how my skin looks. I’m willing to invest in my skin as my budget allows.

Plus, QVC is a master of the bundle! They often put together great packages with multiple products from a line, which saves me money compared to buying everything separately at other stores.

And there is a Philosophy bonus! The Philosophy skincare always ships for free!

I also find the best price when they offer the bundle as a “Today’s Special Value” or as a “One Time Only.”

It all adds up to a more enjoyable and affordable way to discover and stock up on my favorite beauty products.

More Healthy Skin Habits

Let these habits be a part of your daily routine and you will love the healthy glow of your skin!

  • Catch some Zzz’s! Beauty sleep isn’t just a myth – getting enough quality sleep (around 7-8 hours a night) allows your skin time to repair and recharge, leaving you with a bright and refreshed look in the morning.
  • Hydration Hero!  Water is your skin’s best friend. Aim to drink plenty of water throughout the day (think glasses, not just sips) to keep your skin plump and glowing. Dehydration can lead to dullness and dryness, so listen to your body and keep that water bottle handy!
glass of water.
  • Eat for Your Skin!  Nourishing your body with a balanced diet rich in essential nutrients like vitamins C and E is like giving your skin a power-up from the inside out. These vitamins help fight damage and promote healthy cell turnover.
  • Sun Smart!  While a little sunshine can be good for you, too much exposure can lead to wrinkles and sun damage.  Protect your skin by wearing protective clothing, like hats and sunglasses, whenever you’re outside for extended periods. Don’t forget sunscreen – it’s a must-have for daily defense!
