Dip for dinner?

Have you ever tried this?

We love appetizers and dips so much in our family that, every once in a while, we just eat dips for dinner!

Of course, we also love to serve and eat our favorite dips for special occasions. Thanksgiving, Christmas, or just fun get-togethers with family and friends.

Ninety-nine percent of the time, this spinach artichoke dip recipe is included! It is not just a family favorite but a party favorite as well!

So, let’s talk about this ultimate game-day, party, or weeknight snack: Baked Spinach Artichoke Dip. This cheesy, creamy concoction is the stuff dreams are made of.

True confession…I have been caught eating this with a spoon!

I’ve tried countless spinach artichoke dip recipes over the years. Some were okay, and some were just plain blah.

But this one will knock your socks off. It is truly the best spinach artichoke dip!

Baked Spinach Artichoke Dip Ingredient List

First, let’s talk about ingredients. We’re keeping it simple here.

You’ll need a jar or can of artichoke hearts (drained, of course), a box of frozen chopped spinach, an 8 oz. block of cream cheese (let come to room temperature), 1/4 cup mayonnaise, 1/2 cup Romano and Parmesan cheeses, and 1 cup of mozzarella cheese.

You will also need one clove of fresh garlic (if I’m in a hurry, I use 1/2 tsp. minced garlic in a jar!), 1/2 tsp. dried basil, Tabasco hot sauce, or crushed red pepper flakes (to taste), and salt and pepper (again, to taste).

That’s it! Told you it was simple.

A quick word about the frozen spinach. I like to take my frozen spinach and let it thaw in a colander. Then I squeeze the wet spinach with my hand to remove excess liquid. Don’t forget this step or you might end up with a runny dip!

Also, I prefer using light cream cheese. It helps with a lower calorie diet and I truly like the texture better for the dip.

Last, you absolutely can substitute the mozzarella cheese for Monterey jack cheese or Swiss cheese. Totally up to you!

So let’s get started and mix up this easy spinach artichoke dip!

Putting It Together

In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, mayo, Parmesan and Romano, the garlic clove, basil, and Tabasco sauce or crushed red pepper flakes, and salt and pepper. Stir until smooth and creamy.

Then, add in your thawed spinach and drained artichoke hearts. Mix it all together until everything is well combined.

I like to make this well ahead of when I need it so I store the mix in an airtight container and pop it in the fridge.

A Cheesy Dip Bake

Spray a baking dish, pie plate, or 2-quart casserole with non-stick cooking spray.

Next, pour the dip mixture into a baking dish and top with the remaining mozzarella cheese.

Bake in a preheated oven (350 degrees)  for 30 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

While your dip is baking, you can get started on the dippers. Tortilla chips are a classic choice, but pita chips, veggies, or even crackers are great options too.

Once the dip is out of the oven, let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve it with your favorite dippers and get ready to watch it disappear!

This spinach artichoke dip is so versatile. It’s perfect for game-day parties, tailgates, or just a casual weeknight dinner.

It’s also great for meal prep. Make a big batch, let it cool completely, and store it in an airtight container in the fridge. When you’re ready to eat, just reheat it in the oven or microwave.
