Sonata Script – Issue #25
Giving you a peek into the past week for me and Sonata Home Design. The week in review, my favorite finds on the web, and just a little “this and that.” I always want to give you great ideas, inspiration, creative motivation, light bulb moments, and a hearty “You can do it!”
I know I am not alone in my passion for home decorating, crafting, and nesting. So, please join me each week for this creative Saturday jolt!

California is Our Hearts
As I write this, I am watching the ongoing news of the devasting fires in California. The loss of homes and cherished possessions is truly heartbreaking. This tragedy reminds us to support those affected and to cherish our own homes and loved ones.
If you’re looking for ways to help, organizations like the California Fire Foundation and the American Red Cross are providing essential aid to those impacted by the wildfires.
This Week’s Hustle and Bustle
Switching It Up
I love wood cutting boards and usually have them propped against the tile backsplash in the kitchen.
But I’m always “tinkering” with decor and decided to give the backsplash a little “Nancy Meyers” inspired makeover. (Director of “Somethings Gotta Give”, “It’s Complicated”, etc.)
You might try something similar. I put this together with my four “P’s” in mind. (I use this same method for styling bookshelves.)
- Something Pretty (Artwork)
- Something Practical (Colander and plates)
- Something Plant-y (I’m counting the leaf on my DIY disco cherries.)
- Something Personal (The bottle of wine we opened last night!)
Give it a try in your kitchen!
What I’m Reading…
One of my New Year’s Resolutions is to up my reading game. My goal each month is to read one fiction, one non-fiction, and one decorating book.
I just finished Ina Garten’s memoir “Be Ready When the Luck Begins” for my nonfiction and LOVED it!
I have been a long-time fan but am now even more so after reading her life story. Warm, authentic, and inspiring! I have a couple of her cookbooks and now want to go out and buy them all!
I can’t believe I’m doing this…but I am!
Sometimes it is ok to change something that is already beautiful…
I adore the wallpaper in our dining room.
But as the rooms surrounding the dining room have been updated, I’m feeling the need to change it.
“Nooo!” was my husband’s initial response. But I finally talked him into it. (Or maybe he just got tired of me talking about it?)
I really do love this current wallpaper. It always made our dining room feel like a little jewel box in the middle of the house.
But I’m going with my gut and taking the leap with a new wallpaper pattern.
The new wallpaper arrived today and the condition of the box had me a little worried. See that big tear? Yikes!
But I inspected the rolls and they are all in good condition. I have plans to start the project in February. (I’m hosting a baby shower in early February so I don’t want to get caught-mid-project!)
And I will be sure to share the wallpapering journey when it happens!
