Anthropologie Inspired DIY Christmas Wreath

Do you ever find yourself wandering through Anthropologie during the holidays, captivated by their displays but internally screaming at the price tags?

Been there.

Last year, I saw the most charming Anthropologie wreath—a cozy alpine village with tiny houses, bottle brush trees, and all the snow-dusted magic.

The catch? The cost could’ve paid for half my Christmas gifts!

Instead of shelling out, I decided to make my own! This holiday decor project is as fun as it is festive!

Handcrafted Society December Glitz

Who doesn’t love some holiday sparkle and shine?

This month’s Handcrafted Society’s challenge is perfect for the holidays! The challenge this month is to use glitter, foil, or metal leafing in a creative project. I decided to use my own snowy interpretation of glitter!

As always, be sure to read to the bottom of the post to check out all the other creative projects. Holiday creativity at its finest!

Prepping Your Anthropologie DIY Christmas Wreath

Grab that green wreath and let’s give it a snowy makeover!

No need for a full blizzard—just enough to make it look like winter stopped by for a visit.

Lay your wreath form on a protected surface. Grab a paper towel and dip it into acrylic white paint. Simply dab white paint onto the tips of the wreath and create instant “snow!”

Be random and imperfect—nature doesn’t use rulers.

If you want extra snowy vibes, go back for a second coat after the first dries. Once you’re happy, set the wreath aside and move on to the star of the show: the houses!

Build Your Alpine Village

The houses are where this wreath really comes to life!

You can find small wooden houses online or at a craft store. I ordered mine from Amazon and they came as stacked puzzle pieces.

It was pretty fun to put together these cute little puzzle houses.

Here’s a tip if you use the same houses I used: Start to “build” your house from the bottom of the house and end with the roof. The pieces snap into place much easier if you assemble from the ground up!

I painted the outside of each house in deep pink, blue, and teal green for a fun and modern holiday palette.

At first I thought the colors might be too strong. But now worries, the next step took care of that. (Keep reading!)

For the roofs, I went with a soft light grey. It’s subtle and wintery, but still lets the house colors pop.

Once dry, grab a white paint pen and outline the windows and doors.

Don’t stress if your lines aren’t perfect. A little wobble adds alpine charm!

Time to Sparkle and Shine

Let’s get sparkly because no one ever said Christmas décor should be subtle.

This part is messy but worth it!

Working one house at a time, spray adhesive all over the exterior. Immediately sprinkle the fake snow to cover the surface.

The glittery snow softens the color of the houses and gives them the perfect alpine shine.

Shake off the excess and prepare for your jaw to drop—instant winter magic!

For the finishing touch, add a bit of Diamond Dust glitter to the rooftops. (If it doesn’t stick, just spray a little more adhesive.)

A jar of Diamond dust.

I am a huge fan of Diamond Dust! The first time I used it was when I transformed several thrifted glass globes into icy winter snowballs. You can see the project HERE!

The sparkle is unreal and will catch the light beautifully when displayed.

Assemble Your Winter Wonderland

Now comes the fun part: turning your wreath into a cozy alpine village.

Start by arranging your houses around the wreath. Play around with placement until you’re happy. It’s just like decorating your very own snow globe scene!

Once everything looks good, glue the houses down with a hot glue gun.

Next, tuck bottle brush trees into the empty spaces between the houses. Mix up the sizes for a natural, forest-like feel.

Then, glue wisps of white batting on the rooftops and along the bases of the houses to mimic fresh snow.

Step back, admire your masterpiece, and feel ridiculously proud of yourself!

Because of the materials used in the project, I would recommend that this is an “inside wreath.” You could hang this on your front door if you have a protected porch but be aware that this wreath is not weather proof!

Why This Wreath Rocks

This project is like crafting therapy with a side of holiday cheer!

You’re not just saving money—you’re creating something personal and unique for your home. Plus, it’s a total conversation starter. (My mother immediately asked me where I bought it so she could get one!)

Hang your wreath on the wall for the holiday season, surround it with a forest of bottle brush trees, and watch as everyone oohs and ahhs!

Bonus points if you casually say, “Oh, this? I made it.”

So, what do you say? Let’s trade pricey store-bought décor for something made with love (and a whole lot of glitter).

If you try this project, share your photos—I’d love to see your new beautiful wreath!

  5. Hi Missy – First I am a sucker for any Anthropologie dupe. These little homes are adorable and I love how you attached them to a wreath. Of course, I love the colors you selected. The teal and pink melted my heart. The final result is better than an Anthro wreath. Thanks for great instructions. Pinned!
