My home state of Nebraska offers some amazing and often unique food options.
Ever heard of a Runza?
Think golden brown bread pocket filled with ground beef, cabbage, and yummy seasonings. So good!
Or, the Reuben sandwich, first introduced at the Blackstone Hotel in Omaha in 1925. (Butter brickle ice cream was introduced here as well!)
One thing missing in our culinary Great Plains landscape…Jamba Juice!
I can get to this national smoothie and juice bar chain if I hop in the car and head to Kansas City.
But a 3-hour drive is a little long for me when I want a quick Jamba Juice Mango-Go-Go!
So I make my own.
And I’m sharing my recipe with you!
What is a Mango A Go Go?
Jamba Juice’s Mango A Go Go is a classic for a reason. It’s a creamy, refreshing smoothie bursting with the taste of the tropics. The original recipe contains tasty things like pineapple sherbet and fresh mango. But I don’t want to travel to get it!
This copycat recipe lets you focus on the natural sweetness of the fruit while still achieving that delicious smoothie experience.
Its creamy tropical flavor transports me from Nebraska to the Caribbean in about 5 minutes!
And you can forget expensive delivery orders and sky-high price tags – this homemade recipe lets you control the ingredients and cost.
How to Make a Mango a Go-Go at Home
Only 4 ingredients for this mango smoothie recipe! Gotta love that!
4 Simple Ingredients for Your Homemade Mango A Go Go:
- 1 cup frozen mango chunks
- 1/2 cup ice cubes (adjust to your desired consistency)
- 1/2 cup pineapple sherbet
- 1/2 cup mango juice, passionfruit, or mango pineapple juice
You will need something to blend your drink. I love my Ninja food processor for this but you could use pretty much any type of blender.
Step 1: Crush the frozen mango chunks and ice cubes in the blender. Pulse periodically so all of the ice gets crushed.
Step 2: Add the juice and pineapple sherbet…
Step 3: …and blend until smooth!
That’s it! Three easy steps to a yummy creamy mango smoothie!
I think my son-in-law likes it!

Easy Recipe, Endless Possibilities!
This recipe is a fantastic starting point, but feel free to customize it to your taste buds’ desires! Here are some ideas:
- Add a Protein Boost: For a more filling smoothie, add a scoop of your favorite protein powder. Choose a plant-based option if you’re following a vegan diet.
- Creamy Dream: For an even creamier texture, add a splash of coconut milk, almond milk, or oat milk.
- Go Green: Looking for a veggie boost? Spinach or kale can be added without significantly altering the taste.
The Best Tips for a Delicious Mango A Go Go
- Frozen or Fresh?: While using frozen mango will produce a colder smoothie, you can also make this smoothie using fresh mango.
- Sweetness to Taste: Mangoes are naturally sweet, but you can adjust the sweetness by adding a squeeze of lime juice or a touch of honey.
- Citrus Punch: For some additional zip, add a little orange juice to the mix.
- Perfect Portions: This recipe makes one serving. But it is a big serving! My husband and I usually share one serving. On the flip side, feel free to double or triple the recipe for a crowd!
Since Nebraska hasn’t been blessed with a Jamba Juice just yet, you will find me blending this tropical treat in my kitchen!
So ditch the delivery fees and the calorie-laden options – whip up a homemade Mango A Go-Go smoothie recipe and enjoy a taste of the tropics right in your own kitchen!
Cheers!
